Your calculator inputs stay private
SmartRates calculators run in your browser and require no account. If you choose “Save results” while logged in, that named scenario is securely synced to your account so you can access it on another device.
1. Information We Collect
Financial inputs are processed locally in your browser. Anonymous visitors' saved results remain in browser storage. If you create an optional account and save a scenario, the displayed inputs, results, calculator URL, and save time are stored in your Supabase-backed account so they can sync across devices. You can remove saved scenarios from the account dashboard.
Account data can include your email address, authentication provider, saved cards or products, saved comparisons, and calculator scenarios you explicitly save. Google sign-in is handled by Google and Supabase Auth; SmartRates does not receive your Google password.
With your consent, analytics and advertising providers may process site-usage and device information such as pages visited, approximate location, browser type, and referring URL.
2. Cookies
SmartRates uses browser storage for site preferences and, with your consent, cookies for analytics and advertising. Functional storage can remember preferences such as your theme and saved calculator results. Advertising providers may set cookies to measure or personalize ads when you grant advertising consent — see Section 4 for details and opt-out options.
You may reject non-essential cookies in the consent banner or disable cookies in your browser settings without losing access to calculator functionality.
3. How We Use Information
Consent-based analytics data is used to:
• Understand which calculators and features are most useful • Diagnose technical errors • Improve site performance and accuracy
Account data is used to authenticate you and provide requested saving and cross-device synchronization. Calculator inputs are not included in analytics or advertising events. Analytics and advertising providers process other site-usage data under their own privacy terms and your consent choices.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
SmartRates uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense uses cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at https://adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Note: calculator inputs (loan amounts, income figures, etc.) are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to Google or any advertiser.
5. Other Third-Party Services
SmartRates uses Google Analytics subject to your consent choices and may use a CDN (Content Delivery Network) for fast page loads. These services may process technical request information such as IP address, browser, and referring URL as part of analytics or standard web infrastructure. They do not receive the numbers you enter into calculators.
6. Data Security
Calculator computations happen on your device. Optional account saves are stored with Supabase and protected using Row Level Security so authenticated users can access only their own saved rows. Our website uses HTTPS (TLS) in transit.
No online system can be guaranteed completely secure. Do not enter bank credentials, full account numbers, Social Security numbers, or other unnecessary sensitive identifiers into calculator labels or saved scenarios.
7. Children's Privacy
SmartRates is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through our site, please contact us and we will promptly remove it.
8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) may provide rights regarding personal information processed by SmartRates or its service providers.
Depending on the circumstances, these can include the right to: • Know what personal information is collected • Request correction or deletion • Opt out of certain sharing or targeted advertising uses • Exercise privacy rights without discriminatory treatment

9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of SmartRates after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
